This project will produce a symbol typeface of images based on the eight-rayed sun of the Philippine flag, submitted by type designers from around the world. Sales of the resultant typeface will help raise funds for\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.redcross.org.ph\">Philippine Red Cross<\/a>\u00a0(@<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/philredcross\">philredcross<\/a>)\u00a0relief efforts after the events of <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Typhoon_Haiyan_(2013)\">Typhoon Haiyan<\/a>. The typeface will eventually be available on the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.typesociety.org\/store\/\">SOTA Store<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Over <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/typesociety\/status\/407655841546780674\">270 designers from 45 countries<\/a> submitted a glyph. <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/search?q=fontaid&amp;src=typd&amp;f=realtime\">Some glyph designs<\/a>\u00a0were shown on twitter.\u00a0That link is just a twitter search for \u201cfontaid,\u201d so it may show posts beyond just Font Aid VII.<\/p>\n<p>Though I was busy getting <a href=\"http:\/\/slantedhall.com\/\">my Slanted Hall type foundry storefront<\/a> launched and the <a href=\"http:\/\/slantedhall.com\/fonts\/1403\">1403 Vintage Mono Pro typeface<\/a> released, along with some other projects, I also submitted a glyph. The symbols in the middle are a quick drawing of the Tagalog word \u201clakas\u201d (hopefully meaning strength) in Baybayin script.
