One of my next projects will be designing quality music symbol fonts. Getting back to my roots, so to speak. My first foray into type design 20+ years ago was working on music notation software research and development projects.<\/p>\n
The resultant fonts will be for use within music notation programs, such as\u00a0Noteability Pro<\/a>,\u00a0Sibelius<\/a>\u00a0(@AvidSibelius<\/a>),\u00a0Finale<\/a>\u00a0(@finaleofficial<\/a>),\u00a0LilyPond<\/a>\u00a0(@GNU_LilyPond<\/a>\u00a0& @LilyPondBlog<\/a>),\u00a0MusiXTeX<\/a>, MuseScore<\/a> (@MuseScore<\/a>), and\u00a0Steinberg<\/a>\u2019s (@steinbergmedia<\/a>)\u00a0Dorico<\/a>\u00a0by former Sibelius engineers (@dspreadbury<\/a>\u00a0has been writing the scoring application\u2019s progress notes in the Steinberg blog\u00a0Making Notes<\/em><\/a>). The Steinberg folk have been working on\u00a0SMuFL<\/a>\u00a0(Standard Music Font Layout) which I also plan to support.<\/p>\n I\u2019m interested in hearing opinions on various aspects of scores you’ve used.
